SERVICES
Trauma Support
We take a comprehensive and holistic approach to support, including group and one on one support to women who are domestic violence and/or sexual assault survivors.
Safe Housing
We offer access to safe housing options for women when they need it most. Safe, affordable, and stable housing can be a protective factor against experiencing sexual victimization (Hoedemaker, 2010).
Road to Independence
We will assist survivors by offering career counseling, legal counsel, and financial literacy trainings. We understand that these resources are important to moving forward.
Therapeutic Support
We utilize various types of supportive modalities to inspire and empower survivors on their individual journeys. We customize support plans for the women we work with.
ABOUT
Because She's Worth It was founded with one goal in mind: support women who are victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Through a series of programs and therapeutic modalities, we support women in reclaiming control of their lives. Our program supports women who live in the greater Arlington and Greater Boston, MA area.
Because She's Worth It was founded by Rich Summers, BSW, LSW, a Licensed Social Worker and Private Case Manager who worked at McLean Hospital from 1986 to 2004 and Emerson Hospital from 2004 to 2014. Rich founded the organization in honor of his mother, Edna Summers West (1939-2020). Edna Summers West was a dedicated mentor who worked to empower and inspire women of all ages.
Because She's Worth It offers compassionate, layered support at each stage of your journey. We specialize in the intersection of intimate partner violence (IPV) and substance use disorder (SUD). We also assist women who have experienced domestic violence during pregnancy.
Our Mission
To enhance the lives of those we touch through compassion, healing, inspiration, and empowerment.
